What I found interesting was the landscape, the city scape and the view. I also was very interesting by the giant Chinese salamander.
Overall I liked every activities we did in this summer camp, the meals were good. Guangzhou is a beautiful city, so as Chaozhou. This trip permitted me to discover the beauty of China. I also appreciated the fact that we used most of the time we had to do activities, without trouble too much our sleep time. I especially found the hotel in Guangzhou and Chaozhou are good and by the time I got used to the hot weather and I met a lot of amazing people from all around the world which allowed me to train my mandarin and also my English. The leaders were very kind to us, the buddies very cheerful so that made this ten days trip awesome.
What I found motivating were the structures of traditional Chinese Ancient history. I definitely enjoyed the factory visiting, as we get to experience the conditions of the factory workers. Although, I cannot speak or understand I definitely appreciate the hardwork and effort you have put in.
I find that this trip has been very helpful. Before, I didn’t know any mandarin, but now I can understand a little bit. I loved learning about Chinese history & food. This experience has also allowed me to make friends from all over the world. I also liked all the times I got to take pretty pictures and hanging out with my friends at the hotel.
This trip has been very informative and useful, along with enjoyable. I especially enjoyed the activities which included hands-on experience, such as the clay works and the embroidery. Because I study Chinese and history in my Arts degree, this trip has allowed me to further my Chinese language skills and expand my knowledge of Chinese history, more than I possibly could without this wonderful experience.
This was a wonderful trip where I was able to take a glimpse into the rich history & culture of China alongside new friends from all over the world. My favorite activities would be the arts & crafts workshops but all the other things like visiting factories & trying new cuisines were all an eye-opening experience. Thank you to our amazing teachers and organizers for looking after us and preparing this trip.
The most interesting part of this trip was being able to experience Chinese culture and history, meet new people from all over the world and learn about them and their lives in their countries. My favorite part of the trip was visiting different enterprises and trying out calligraphy and Chinese painting. Thank you to all the sponsors who brought us this amazing experience and the teachers and buddies who helped us so kindly along the way.
Thank you for a wonderful trip & experience! I especially enjoyed the art workshop & meeting people from around the world.
The most interesting thing for us is to experience life in China not in the four major cities. I only go to then most of the time so never do I experience smaller city life. This trip was awesome. Thank you very much.
My favorite things were going to different places and cities to see the sights – like looking at the cityscape or going to the top of a hill to look down on a city or walking through a city. I really enjoyed almost everything we did though. Thank you!
This camp was unique for its many different experiences in the Chinese culture. Looking at and learning to make different types of Chinese art like embroidery, porcelain, and painting. Thank you all for making this trip possible!
My favorite part of this journey is the visiting of the woodcarving in Chaozhou and the Chaozhou cuisine. The previous one showed me lots of wonderful masterpiece which I like it pretty much. The latter one provided the best catering in this journey.
The part of the trip I enjoyed the most was being able to socialize with our buddies, and learn about them, despite the typical language barriers that would exist. I found that the friendliness of them, whether it was at the lunch/dinner table or during walks down Gateway Street, made this tour so much more fun. Another way to say it would be that watching our buddies have fun together and with us transferred to me. I never felt left out when travelling without buddies, they would make every effort to ensure I understand what was going on. I’m repeating myself now because I didn’t get enough sleep, but you understand my enjoyment is difficult to express.
This trip was one that had interested me for some time now. To be given such an opportunity to observe the customs, culture, and lifestyles of those who lived in the lesser visited cities of China, I am grateful. I feel as if my perspective has broadened a bit. The most enlightening part of the trip were the many interesting conversations I had with the students of SYSU. It was a worthwhile and meaningful exchange of ideas as we sought to understand and emphasize with each other’s, often polar, viewpoints. I would also like to thank those who organized the events and made everything run seamlessly for the most part. All the SYSU students and teachers did a great job getting everyone involved in the activities and answering any questions of all types from culture to linguistics. Indeed I have felt comfortable and ease due to their efforts. And so one again, thanks for making this trip possible. It was an unforgettable experience.
I really enjoyed this camp because we were able to see Chinese culture firsthand and experience a number of things that ordinary tourist might not be able to. The activities were diverse and well planned and it was interesting to meet other Chinese people from around the world. My favorite activity was Chaozhou opera. I also feel like my Chinese has improved and that means a lot to me. Thank you so much to everyone involved!
I really liked the camp and it was better than I expected. Meeting group of new friends and being able to travel to places with them is something I will never forget. I enjoyed meeting the university students and having them to come with us because they were like our private tour guide & translator. My favorite activity was Chinese painting. I’ve been doing art since I was a little kid and being introduced to a new art form by an artist was really cool. Thank you all so much for this experience. If this is happening, I’ll definitely come back for it. We lit fun.
Thanks for this amazing trip that you guys have planned so hard. I loved meeting people from around the world and making new friends. And thanks for the amazing birthday party!
Thanks! Was fun. There were cockroach.
The China camp was amazing. I met a lot of amazing people. I really enjoyed going to the different museums and looking at the paintings, sculptures and clay items.
I came to this camp a little bit reluctant, the idea of going to mainland China were a bit worrisome, given the stereotype attached! Somewhat uncivilized and unsafe. However, this trip broke all expectations. It revealed to me that my roots at the core of my Chinese-American identity are inherently awful and undervalued. My favorite part of the trip was probably exploring Chaozhou, Gateway Street, and its cuisine. Learning 中文 was also awesome! Thank you for the wonderful experience and I will remember it eternally.
I really liked the camp because I learned more about my culture. I never thought I would go to Chaozhou but it was more fun than I expected.
This trip was better than anything. I could have ever imagined. The SYSU staff and students were all so warm and welcoming, and they quickly opened us up to their family. I’ve met so many new friends from China and abroad, created so many unforgettable memories. My most favorite part of the trip was Chaozhou opera because it really let us glimpse into not only Chinese culture, but also especially Chaozhou culture. I would definitely come back for this experience and I would highly recommend students abroad to join this experience. To the teachers, staff, and students of SYSU, thank you!
